Gresty Academy One Minute Teaser #13: A lot of people are not aware that bases of logarithms can be any positive number except 1, including rational and irrational numbers, and simplifying logs with 'unusual' bases (such as base 3.5 in this case) is identical to simplifying for more familiar numbers (such as integers or e).

This type of question is very common indeed on High School maths exams and general College Entrance tests and thus is well worth getting to grips with.
