Determine the volume of 3.70 moles of N2 gas at STP.

In 1811 Amedeo Avagadro proposed that equal volumes of gases at the same pressure temperature would occupy the same volume.

Although gas particles of different gases are different sizes, they are spaced so far apart that their size doesn't matter.

STP is short for standard temperature and pressure. 273 K or 0 Celsius and 101.3 kPa or 1atm.

At these pressure and temperature conditions, 1 mole of any gas will have the same volume 22.4 L. This is called the molar volume of a gas.
