C12H22O11 (sucrose) when reacts with cincentrated sulphuric acid, it gives carbon along with water. Concentrated H2SO4 is a very powerful dehydrating agent which can dehydrate cane sugar completely and give black coloured carbon which can be seen in this experiment very clearly.
