In this video I will show you how calculate the dot product of two vectors when you are not given the magnitude or the angle in between them.

When you are asked to calculate the dot product of two vectors but you are not given the magnitude or the angle in between them, we need to apply the definition of the dot product. This tells us to multiply the first component of each vector and add the second component of each vector. This will result in a scalar quantity.

In this video I will walk you through a very basic dot product of two vectors example. Understanding the solution to this problem will help you solve similar problems where the magnitude and angle in between are not given.

This problem is given to help you understand the process for calculating the dot product in the MCV4U course in the introduction to vectors unit.
